Founded by Groundling alumna Holly Mandel, Improvolution offers a unique approach involving character based improv, supportive & noncompetitive classes, where the motto is IMPROV FOR EVERYONE. (read more in CLASSES)

GOOD GIRLS AREN’T FUNNY: WOMEN’S IMPROV CLASS

Improvolution founder Holly Mandel will be teaching a 6 session improv class for women based on her talk GOOD GIRLS AREN’T FUNNY. Students will explore the various motives and structures in women and how they show up in improv specifically (but of course they’re always showing up not just in improv!) And then you will work on building a different muscle that is free of all of that, which makes you a more confident, consistent and self-directed performer. After the class, you will be invited to perform as a group in the next monthly LOVEFEST show. (READ MORE ABOUT THE CLASS HERE)

MUSICAL IMPROV

There will then be an 8-week Level 1 class beginning June 24-Aug 12 and ending with a show, August 16. Classes being taught by our talented friend Rob Schiffmann of “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical”!

WEEKLY DROP-IN IMPROV CLASS

Open to any and all students who have taken Level 1. Keep your improv tools sharp, learn new ones, and get a chance to work with different people with a variety of experience each week.

INTRO TO IMPROV: 3 HOUR DROP-IN CLASS

Once every two months we offer an introduction to improv and what we do at Improvolution. It’s a fun and easy way to get a taste of what improv is…and is not. You’ll learn some of the basics in just 3 hours and see for yourself that truly ANYONE CAN IMPROVISE! (we’ve got 16 years teaching experience to back that up!) It’s an incredible tool that will help you in just about all areas of your life because it’s not about being funny or clever or a good actor…improv is about learning to let go and trust yourself, about seeing how much fun you can have when you aren’t worried about getting it right or figuring it out. You’ll get a taste just how addicting it can be to keep jumping off the edge with a bunch of other people over and over. (not a literal edge of course…) We guarantee it will be 3 hours well spent!
