OUR NEWEST CLASS: LAUNCH INTO YES

We have added a 4-session class to our family of improv classes! This brand-spanking-new option is for people who have taken and loved our 3-hour INTRO TO IMPROV and want to keep going BUT cannot commit time-wise to one of our longer Level classes. Have no fear, there is now a place you can keep your improv mojo working!

We will be offering a few options each month and classes run 2 1/2 hours long for 4 weeks. They will look and feel like an INTRO, just the next step! We know once someone is turned onto the fun and magic of improv, they don’t want it to end…now it doesn’t have to! Register here or read more below…

OUR NEW STRUCTURE: LEVELS 1- 4

We’re gonna keep it simple. As one of the only character-based improv schools out there, we have a distinct path we take students on. LEVEL 1 is the foundational elements of improv; LEVEL 2 focused on maintaining and building scenes, and introduces having a ‘character’s’ point of view; LEVEL 3 deepens your skills and trust in yourself as an improviser, ‘yes-ander’, and team player while also incorporating more tools for character-work; and LEVEL 4 introduces skills and insights that expand, compliment, diversify and strengthen your abilities and improv ‘tool belt’ - clowning, musical improv, & emergent scenework/longform.

You can read more about these levels here…

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Improv IS for Everyone. That is our motto and our philosophy.

Founded by Los Angeles GROUNDLING alumna Holly Mandel in 2002, IMPROVOLUTION is an improv school, a group of performers, and dare we say philosophy of how to live, create, and collaborate on and off stage. If you want to learn it, we can teach you. It’s not about being funny or clever or aggressive, or needing to be a good actor or performer. It's not reducible to one format, game, or rule. It’s about investing in and getting behind the part of yourself that is fearless, creative, open, spontaneous, and likes the idea of creating with others. Improvisation has been and always will be a “team sport”. And IMPROVOLUTION carries on the GROUNDLINGS tradition of a character-based emphasis to improv.

Basically, improv is just kinda awesome. It helps people work together in amazing ways. It helps people think faster on their feet and trust their ideas. It helps people see that they don’t have to have everything figured out to participate fully, have fun, and create. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We want everyone who is interested to experience the freedom, joy, and individual and collective creativity that improv unlocks.
